Think Lee Greenwood's Song Next Time You Struggle

Back when I worked at a Boy Scout Summer camp for five plus summers, one fond memory was our cabin would listen to Lee Greenwood's song "God Bless the U.S.A." everyday before breakfast.

So when I needed a happy memory a few months ago, when my wife started to really get sick, I went back to this song. It starts out with an amazing line that when I was a teenager or in my early 20's never really "heard."

The song starts out, "If tomorrow all the things were gone I'd worked for in my life, and I had to start again with just my children and my wife. I'd thank my lucky stars to be living here today..."

That part of the song never hit me until a few months ago. And now that my wife has since passed away, I would love to start over with just my children and my wife.

But the message for today is it's just money. You can always make more money. It's something I always talked about with Nancy that yes we are taking on additional debt, selling household items and stocks etc, but it's just money. While we definitely struggled financially, it was just money.

And now after selling a business I owned for 20 years, I am starting over with just my children...and I do believe almost everything happens for a reason. One thing I will probably never understand is what Nancy went through...
