ChatGPT Prompts for Business Owners & Marketers

I am going to keep this blog updated with my favorite ChatGPT prompts for people that are learning to ask better prompts. Full disclosure, I am currently just using ChatGPT but will be using other AI tools. I think next up is the image generator, but I am not sure. I have an old school image generator called subscription to ShutterStock (haha). I am going to arrange them in marketing and accounting and operations buckets to start with. We will see what makes sense after I get a bunch of these prompts. Likely topics will be Search Engine Optimization, Marketing, Marketing Strategy, Business Strategy, Financial Forecasting, Business Metrics etc. Let me know what you think in the comments or if you have a favorite prompt you like to use.

ChatGPT Prompts For Marketing

1) Marketing Content Planning - Emphasis on Search Engine Optimization

Motivation/Goal - with our defined list of keywords we are targeting on improving use this prompt to generate ideas for blog posts and social media posts. For example, these ideas could be used for a video and creating of a blog post. Prompt - "Given my bio and writing style. Give me three blog ideas for each topic [insert topic list here] How I used: I have 10 keywords I am looking to improve the search engine rankings for. I plan to use the best 10-15 ideas for blog posts and content generation. For example, with this prompt I did not get 30 great ideas to write content about. But I did get at least one great idea for each keyword.

2) Marketing Social Media Prompt - Emphasis on Promoting This Blog Post

Motivation/Goal - create a series of social media posts to promote a blog post (just so happens it was this blog post). Unique aspect was to include keywords that you are targeting for SEO purposes too. Prompt - "For this blog post write social media posts for all platforms in my list Use this url to link to [insert link - bonus tip set up a custom url shortener] Focus on these keywords [insert keywords here] when possible [post the blog post here] How I used: loaded up content into Hootsuite for posting at the optimal time. 3) Marketing - Video Short Ideas

Motivation/Goal - create a series of videos ideas specifically for shorts. While the long content and then making clips out of them is working somewhat well. I am going to test making "shorts" just for the social media platforms. E.g. there will be a complete thought and an intro/hook for each clip. Prompt - "Given my bio and writing style. give me three 30 to 60 second video short ideas for each topic - [insert topic ideas here]. For each script include a hook, story, offer like [insert favorie expert] would do with these ideas.

How I used: I am going to test filming shorts vs filming a longer content and then chopping up the ideas.

4) Marketing - Rewrite Blog Post Prompt

Motivation/Goal - rewrite a blog post written targeting certain keywords. You want to do research on keywords you want to target with each blog post. And while you don't necessarily want to create blog posts for certain keywords, you can use this keyword research to validate if it's a blog post you should write and also to focus the content of your blog post.

Prompt - "Rewrite this blog post targeting these keywords [insert keywords here] use h1 for the title of the post use h2 for heading with keywords where appropriate do not stuff keywords in for the sake of getting keywords in the blog post. How I used: I write the entire blog post myself and have ChatGPT polish up the writing a bit. One other tip to share, run it through ChatGPT a few times you might like the second or third version it drafts better than the first version it generates.

5) Marketing - Provide Scripts For Shorts / Reels

Motivation/Goal - looking to create ideas for the next 30 videos / shorts I want to create next week. Did this on a Friday late in the afternoon and it provide a great summary for the videos to shoot early next week. Prompts -"For short/reals for Instagram or Youtube come up with [put how many you want I used 30] short ideas in a sequence with scripts include hooks in first [put how many seconds I used 3] seconds and valuable info first 15 seconds. The topic of [put topic idea here] but for [niche / target market]. use my bio and experiences already loaded and [other info if you loaded into ChatGPT] as it makes sense." How I used: The output of the ChatGPT was a list of ideas and a brief script write up to be used to generate the next 10 to 15 days.
